A cat's inventive way of letting his owner know that he is hungry, despite it being the middle of the night, has delighted viewers online.
The pet was captured using his paw to hit the "on" button of a smart alarm that doubles up as a Bluetooth speaker; music from American singer Chappell Roan could then be heard. His owner, who is based in New York City, told the post's 718,000-plus viewers that summoning tunes from this particular artist can mean only one thing—that the cat wants something to eat.

"Chappell Roan means breakfast and he hacked the alarm," the cat's owner, posting under the handle @nicdonatantonio, said.

Cats are known for their remarkable ability to learn routines and for their innate sense of time, despite not being able to read clocks. They can adapt to household schedules, recognizing when it is time for meals, play, or rest, and they often use external sights and sounds to help them do so.
Studies have shown that cats develop these routines based on environmental cues and consistent daily patterns. Their internal clocks, governed by circadian rhythms, allow them to anticipate regular activities and respond accordingly, demonstrating a level of understanding and predictability in their behavior that often surprises cat owners.
Viewers were able to see the cat walking along his owner's bedroom sideboard in the dark, stopping at the alarm to turn it on. The feline was then filmed standing at the edge of the sideboard, no doubt waiting to be fed, after successfully waking up his owner.
His owner had revealed in the post's caption that the unexpected moment took place at 3.30 a.m., while the pair tend to get up at 5 a.m.
Viewers online reacted positively to the viral clip, with some taking to the comments section to share their amused takes or their own similar experiences.
"He really said 'Wow, that time already! Dang!'" one user wrote.
Another said: "He said, 'good luck babe I decide when dinner is'."
"My one kitten turns off my CPAP in the morning to get me up. It is a genius move," a third user shared.
Another wrote: "I like how he took a couple steps and acted surprised."
